No Return may not live up to Factions, but The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered offers enough reason for a revisit
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered adds more than a new lick of paint, and means a classic game is well worth a revisit.
Graphical quality is important, sure – and rest assured, developer Naughty Dog continues to push the boundaries of what the Sony systems can do to make their games as lifelike as technology permits – but it's certainly not the be all and end all. The things that struck me as I played through the original version remain – the telegraphing of similar button prompts could do with better distinction, for example, and it still feels just a couple of hours too long – but ultimately, it's a grief-soaked, bone-chilling adventure that's as gripping now as it ever was. No, it's unlikely to soothe the sores that still weep in the wake of Factions' cancellation, but for those looking for any excuse to take down a Clicker or take on the Scars, No Return offers the chance to revisit key locations in The Last of Us Part 2 and face a host of foes as characters you don't get to play in the main game, such as Dina and Tommy.
