No semen needed: AI detects male infertility from blood with 100% accuracy | The AI model demonstrated 100% accuracy in predicting non-obstructive azoospermia, the most severe form of male infertility.

Researchers in Japan have developed an AI-powered blood test that can predict male infertility with high accuracy.

“We measured serum hormonal levels of FSH, LH, PRL, total testosterone, and E2 to investigate male infertility,” Associate Professor Hideyuki Kobayashi from Toho University School of Medicine, Japan, who led the study, told Interesting Engineering. “We retrospectively obtained data from the medical records of 3,662 patients who underwent sperm analysis and serum hormone level measurement for male infertility,” said Dr Kobayashi. The AI model developed by Dr. Kobayashi’s team stands out from existing tools due to its unique approach of incorporating multiple hormone levels, including T/E2 and LH, in addition to FSH.
