The economy is terrible and getting worse, but the regime seems to have done just enough to slow down the march toward complete fiscal disintegration, so Saied has probably bought a few more years before he either has to go crawling back to the IMF, crank the money printers to high/hyper-inflation territory, or possibly trigger a real mass revolt by removing the subsidies.
