Onyx Motorbikes owner and CEO James Khatiblou was trying to keep his startup alive. Then, the unthinkable happened.

A shipment of around 100 CTY2 dirt bikes from Chinese supplier Suzhou Jindao was delayed, and customers were starting to demand refunds – a major problem considering Khatiblou already owed both lenders and shareholders a lot of money. Realizing that Khatiblou wasn’t in a fit state to handle the pressing matters at hand, Cernicky said he started pressuring Onyx’s COO, Tay McDaniel, to step up – to which she replied with a resignation letter.
