OpenAI launches ChatGPT, a multimodal AI app that lets users chat with text, images, and voice on the Apple Vision Pro, the augmented reality headset powered by visionOS.
The new ChatGPT app for the Vision Pro allows users to chat with OpenAI’s GPT-4 Turbo model, the latest and most capable version of its natural language processing system. The new ChatGPT app is also part of a broader industry push toward multimodal AI, a type of artificial intelligence that can process and understand inputs from different modes or modalities, such as text, speech, images, and videos. This will likely become a lot easier with the Vision Pro, where users will be able to show ChatGPT images more easily and intuitively, enabling complex problem-solving such as troubleshooting why their car engine won’t start, or exploring the contents of their fridge to plan a meal, or analyzing a math problem simply by looking at it.
