Over 9 Years LVFS Has Served Over 110 Million Firmware Files To Linux Systems

This week marks nine years since the Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS) was started by Richard Hughes of Red Hat to ease the firmware updating/distribution process with the open-source Fwupd firmware updating utility.

In marking the 9th birthday of LVFS, Richard Hughes shared a brief retrospective and the latest stats on LVFS/Fwupd firmware updating. LVFS/Fwupd continue to support a wide variety of devices from web cameras and SSDs and mice all the way up to system firmware. Michael is also the lead developer of the Phoronix Test Suite, Phoromatic, and OpenBenchmarking.org automated benchmarking software.
