Porsche Taycan Turbo GT sets new lap record at Laguna Seca

The Taycan Turbo GT has a new motor and more power.

Porsche needed something to boast for its model expansion for the Taycan electric sedan, so it brought the Turbo GT and Turbo GT with Weissach package to the Weathertech Raceway in Laguna Seca to see if they could beat the lap record set by a Tesla Model S Plaid. The Weissach package, in which the rear seats are removed to eliminate 157 pounds of extra weight, also played a role in the new lap record. But the new Taycan variant isn’t just for bragging rights; it’s also for would-be track racers and record setters who can place an order for the Turbo GT (with or without the Weissach package) starting today.
