Prysmian: World’s deepest subsea cable installed at record 7,054 feet | The project is enabled by non-metallic armored cable made from High-Modulus Synthetic Fibres.

An Italian firm has set a record with the installation of a 500kV subsea cable at 2,150 meters as part of a new electricity corridor project.

In a step in that direction, the €1.7 billion Tyrrhenian Link project is designed to enhance electricity exchange capacity, bolster renewable energy development, and improve grid reliability. The East section, spanning 304 miles (490 kilometers), connects the Fiumetorto landing point in Termini Imerese, Sicily, to Torre Tuscia Magazzeno near Battipaglia, Campania. Also, Prysmian will strengthen the Mediterranean energy hub by designing, supplying, and installing more than 932 miles (1,500 kilometers) of underwater cables to facilitate power exchange between Sardinia, Sicily, and Campania.
