Ransomware hits dozens of Romanian hospitals

Over 100 facilities have been affected with some doctors resorting to pen and paper.

Over a hundred Romanian healthcare facilities have been been affected by a ransomware attack, with some doctors forced to resort to pen and paper. The attack largely unfolded overnight on Monday, according to a statement from the Romanian Ministry of Health and had targeted a widely used medical information system. As most of the targeted hospitals have recent backups of data from the affected servers, it is expected that the facilities should be able to bounce back fairly rapidly.
