As you may notice from the giant TODOs that had been sitting around for months, I had initially intended to send only a single update to the list of waiting clients whenever an item was added or removed. I had started a new website project that I was excited about over the weekend, largely inspired by Nolen Royalty ’s amazing blogpost about One Million Checkboxes, 2 and had planned to spend most of the week working on that. This experience helped drive home that having good logging, metrics, and monitoring set up is super useful for troubleshooting, even for basic websites that you don’t expect to get much traffic on.
