KASA, the country's full-fledged space agency, was established in Sacheon, about 300 kilometers south of Seoul. John Lee, a retired senior executive at the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration, was appointed as KASA's deputy administrator in charge of space missions and policies, and Rho Kyung-won, a senior official at the Ministry of Science and ICT, as its deputy chief. Inaugural employees of the Korea AeroSpace Administration pose for a photo on the agency's opening day in Sacheon, about 300 kilometers south of Seoul, on May 27, 2024.
