Don't panic! Here's how to tactfully answer salary expectations questions without costing yourself a ton of money
If they discontinue the interview process because you won’t share two of the three unique pieces of information you have, then they’re extremely motivated to get a bargain on your skillset and experience, and they’re not focused on finding the right candidate for the role itself. Hopefully you’re convinced that they’re motivated to continue your interviews even if you don’t share this precious information, and you gave my pat answer and completed Level 1. It might be a little inconvenient if you sit through four or five interviews and get an offer that doesn’t meet your minimum acceptable salary, but that’s a pretty small investment to find a good job.
