One of Europe’s most valuable companies is restructuring 8,000 jobs as it joins a growing list of firms shifting their focus to artificial intelligence. “SAP is opening the next chapter: with the planned transformation program, we are intensifying the shift of investments to strategic growth areas, above all Business AI,” CEO Christian Klein said in a separate statement. Last July, Wipro, one of India’s top providers of software services, said it would spend $1 billion on improving its AI capabilities over the next three years, including training its entire staff of 250,000 in how to use the technology.
