Scammer Allegedly Makes $600,000 a Month Holding Instagram Accounts Hostage

The case of Unlocked4Life, who outed himself on Adam-22's No Jumper podcast, shows how Instagram account scammers have escalated to violence and intimidation too.

In many of the cases, and by his own admission on the podcast, Qibaa himself was the one locking the accounts to extort people out of thousands of dollars in order to get access back. She was contacted via text by someone called “Unlocked,” and then was spammed by that person with more than 2,000 SMS messages, including a threat to “blast out” her social security number and a demand to pay $20,000 for the harassment to stop. Qibaa sent “racial slurs” to the realtor and owner, the complaint says, and sent messages threatening to kill them, including photos of a man with a bloodied face.
