Scientists create new color-changing ‘sunglasses for windows’ to block heat | Once activated the color changing film can retain the color for 40 hours unless a reverse potential is applied to make it transparent.

A transparent film developed by Chinese researchers can change color to reduce glare and block heat from sunlight on demand.

Researchers at the Harbin Insitute of Technology (HIT) in China have developed transparent films that can change color on demand and block out sunlight and heat. A research team led by Hongbo Xu at the School of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at HIT in China has developed electrochromic coatings that can change color on demand.
