SF startup bosses illegally peddled $100M in Adderall, Feds say

Prosecutors allege that Done Global execs Ruthia He and David Brody sold 40 million pills of stimulants like Adderall, Vyvanse and Ritalin through their platform with few guardrails, leading to the overdose deaths of multiple customers.

Two top leaders from San Francisco digital health startup Done Global were arrested and charged by federal authorities in connection with an alleged $100 million fraud scheme to illegally distribute Adderall and other stimulants over the internet. “As alleged, these defendants exploited the Covid-19 pandemic to develop and carry out a $100 million scheme to defraud taxpayers and provide easy access to Adderall and other stimulants for no legitimate medical purpose,” Attorney General Merrick B. Garland said in a statement. “Prescribers were able to obtain lucrative pay for minimal work, sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in exchange for writing prescriptions for Adderall and other stimulants without much, if any, in-person or audio-visual telemedicine consultation with the Done members,” prosecutors wrote.
