Should your car warn you that you’re speeding? California lawmakers vote yes

California could become the first state to require technology in cars that warns drivers when they're going 10 miles per hour over the speed limit. But critics say lawmakers are moving too fast.

Gavin Newsom signs a bill requiring new passenger vehicles and large trucks sold in California to have technology to prevent drivers from going more than 10 miles an hour above the speed limit. The bill approved by the California legislature over the weekend would require all new cars sold in the state to warn drivers if they’re going more than 10 miles per hour over the speed limit.
