Show HN: Design/build of some parametric speaker cabinets with OpenSCAD


The design and build process of a 6 year long 2-way speaker project based on the Paul Carmody Speedster.

The idea was to create a fully parametric design that could be easily adapted to any drivers, enclosure volume etc – yet still retain the original aesthetic. I had access to one via a friend – we spent a whole year of Wednesday evenings getting it to work, ultimately to conclude that the Mach3 based controller was a dead-end – too unreliable. Terrible curling (and messy surface) due to a cool bedI attempted to improve bed adhesion by cleaning the plate with isopropyl alcohol and spraying it with hairspray.
