Southwest Airlines Announces Free Wi-Fi for Everyone, Months After Taking Away Free Checked Bags

It will be the largest U.S. airline offering free wifi on all flights. At least for now.

Southwest previously charged $8 for wifi per flight segment and the old reviews have not been great, according to aviation blogs like View from the Wing. “We’re teaming up with Southwest to make staying connected in the air easier for millions of travelers,” Mike Katz, President of Marketing, Strategy and Products at T-Mobile, said in a statement. “We’re excited for Rapid Rewards Members to experience free in-flight WiFi from takeoff to landing – no strings, no surprises.
