Space tech giant Maxar confirms hacker accessed employees’ personal data

Maxar has 2,600 employees — with more than half having security clearances to work on classified U.S. government projects.

U.S. space technology and satellite giant Maxar has confirmed a data breach involving the personal information of its employees, according to a filing with state regulators. Maxar said it discovered the breach a week later on October 11 and took “immediate action” to prevent further unauthorized access to the system. “Nevertheless, according to our investigation, the hacker likely had access to the files on the system for approximately one week before this action was taken,” Maxar said in the disclosure.
