(56) Inflammation of the Vagus nerve has been observed to cause dysautonomia during acute infection leading to disruption of the autonomic nervous system and affecting heartbeat, blood pressure, digestion, breathing, bladder control, dental health, etc. (92) But It can also lead to an increased risk of hypogonadism and erectile dysfunction,(93,94) negatively affecting sperm quality parameters,(95) and crossing the placental barrier to infect and damage the placenta and fetus potentially several months following birth.
