Starcloud can’t put a data centre in space at $8.2M in one Starship
Abstract
While one could begin by asking how much compute workload should be moved to space to make a meaningful dent from a climate angle—a really good reason to do so—economic incentives that guarantee large returns on investment are what appeal to private investors, at the end of the day. The ATCS Overview comprise equipment that provide thermal conditioning via fluid flow, e.g. ammonia and water, and includes pumps, radiators, heat exchangers, tanks, and cold plates. Solar arrays primarily consist of thin photovoltaic films with minimal structural requirements, while radiators demand substantial mass for heat transfer fluids, thermal exchange surfaces, and robust mounting systems.
