Steam had a record-breaking year in 2023

Steam, Valve's game launcher and storefront, added a record breaking number of games in 2023, its 20th year.

If that pace continues, 2024 will come in at just over 12,000 new titles, but it’s fair to say that the first five days of January are probably not representative and the numbers will accelerate through the year. It began life in 2003 as a launcher for the first-person shooter Counter-Strike but soon expanded to Valve’s other titles as an automatic updater. Towards the end of 2023, Steam launched a beta of the platform which brings a highly requested feature to users – a greater degree of control over the privacy of the game library, as reported by GameRant.
