Strava was used to locate the most powerful people
A French newspaper has revealed the whereabouts of world leaders with the use of the hugely popular running app. So is it time to stop it tracking your location?
In another example, they identified a San Francisco hotel where Joe Biden was meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping, using an agent’s Strava-tracked jogging route. Not while working, but the US Secret Service told Le Monde they didn’t prohibit personal use of social media off duty. In Singapore, rent-a-runners hit the news by offering a service whereby they logged on to other people’s IDs and did runs for them, and charged by the kilometre.
