Supreme Court rejects X Corp’s bid to reveal user data requests by law enforcement

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined X Corp's appeal to disclose detailed information about federal law enforcement's requests for user data.

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal from Elon Musk’s X Corp, previously known as Twitter, regarding the disclosure of user data requests by federal law enforcement for national security purposes, as per Reuters reporting. These revelations sparked a public outcry and led to tech giants, including Google, Microsoft, Twitter, and Facebook’s parent company Meta Platforms, pushing for more transparency about government data requests. This policy change was further cemented by Congress in 2015, permitting limited disclosure of national security letters and Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act orders in increments ranging from 100 to 1,000.
