Despite this, the state authority proceeded with a sole-provider strategy, which Tesla argues limits competition and undermines New Jersey’s clean transportation goals. Tesla also pointed to the superior reliability and value of its network, citing 99.9% uptime, less than 1% wait times, and costs approximately 30% lower per kilowatt-hour compared to alternatives. It warned that removing Superchargers from such a critical corridor is a setback for New Jersey’s goal of reaching 100% zero-emission new car sales by 2035.
