Tesla says the Cybertruck is ‘bestselling,’ so why is it offering discounts?

Tesla is offering price reductions of up to $2,600 on the Cybertruck for the first time.

The discounts come as the electric vehicle market is suddenly brimming with a multitude of offerings, from established players like Chevy and Hyundai, to upstarts like Rivian and Lucid. And earlier this month, Tesla asked factory employees working on the Cybertruck line to stay home for three days, according to Business Insider. The EV certainly has its fans, but the polarizing design, as well as Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s hard right politics, has also been a factor in the truck’s diminishing appeal.
