The Doodle Theorem, and Beyond (2016)
Colin Wright juggles Euler, doodling and Millennium problems
One of the things I like about recreational maths is how we can start with a simple game, play around a bit, poke in the corners, and suddenly fall down a deep hole into some serious mathematics. Some have it that the puzzle required that they return to their starting point, while others didn’t add that extra condition, but over time all the residents came to agree that it was impossible. Colin has a PhD in mathematics and is a full-time freelance provider of “outreach and enhancement”, an activity he whimsically describes as being a “torturer of adults and confuser of children”.
