The future of the Xbox looks a lot like a PC
Xbox is undergoing some platform shifts.
At the same time, leaked internal memos have revealed an increased focus inside Microsoft on Xbox game preservation and forward compatibility. Spencer admitted in an interview with Polygon recently that subsidizing hardware is “more challenging in today’s world” of pricey components and a lack of overall console market growth. The Steam Deck might have only sold a few million units so far, but it represents the biggest threat to Xbox consoles and Windows-based PC gaming ever.
