Today, we don’t think of cancer or heart disease treatments as ways to extend average lifespan, but in a basic sense isn’t that exactly what they are? It has to necessarily mean that initially the damage occurs to our molecules, starting with our genome and then to the proteins that the genes specify and make, and then to our organelles and the cell’s ability to get rid of defective products.
