The Matter 1.4.2 update has the smart home upgrades you didn't know you needed
As the CSA prepares to launch Matter 1.5 this fall, a 1.4.2 update is setting the stage to improve your user experience.
As Matter continues to grow into a fully fledged smart home connectivity standard, the CSA periodically releases updates to make the protocol secure and easier to use. CRLs protect you from unknowingly adding an insecure or fraudulent device to your smart home by letting Matter flag and block those with compromised or outdated certificates. This capability means manufacturers will be able to create cheaper devices without Bluetooth hardware, and that older Wi-Fi-only products will be able to support Matter with just a software update.
