The PC was never a true 'IBMer'
Why IBM lost the PC market
Products that would form the basis for Microsoft’s coming rise and the wide availability of which would lead to IBM’s fall in the PC market. In short, it was too late, and IBM’s attempt to regain control of the PC market and ecosystem would, after some initial success, fail completely. I have no recollection of what NPII stood for (please excuse this oversight, IBM had hundreds of acronyms, and it was a long time ago) nor is there any trace of it online.
