The science of routing print orders

How Canva uses graph traversal to handle the complexity of getting print orders to our customers.

Coupling independent behavior into a single component or implementation leads to the possibility of regressions, which can result in breaking a functional piece of our system while making changes to something unrelated. A lean network graph is the most efficient way for us to query and solve routing problems, but it doesn’t provide the benefits we need to support our internal teams in updating the data it contains. It also directly ties into Canva’s goal of reducing the distance your items travel, meaning lower carbon emissions associated with transportation and shorter shipping times, leading to you getting your designs faster.
