The Sims is getting a film adaptation, among other additions

Electronic Arts plans several expansions to The Sims franchise, including a movie and a shared social network across many experiences.

At present, none of the companies involved have revealed any details about the film’s characters or story, but Katy Gorman, EA’s GM of The Sims franchise, told Variety, “You will see a lot of ‘The Sims’ universe come to life and you will see a lot of the classic experiences that our players have in the games come to life in the movie… I’m sure a pool without a ladder is somewhere in there, but we haven’t finalized any of those details. EA also revealed other details about where it’s taking its life sim franchise, including future ways for players to socialize and enjoy the game. Laura Miele, president of EA Entertainment, said in the company’s Investor Day presentation that they’re disrupting its traditional sequel model by creating a massive Sims platform, rather than restarting with a new game.
