The Speedy Ptyxis Terminal Emulator Available On Ubuntu 24.10

For those on Debian experimental or planning on upgrading to Ubuntu 24.10 that is releasing this week, the Ptyxis terminal emulator is now available in the package archive if wanting to try out this speedy terminal option.

Ptyxis supports GPU acceleration and aims to deliver optimal terminal emulator performance. However, Canonical engineer Jeremy Bicha this past week was able to land Ptyxis in Debian unstable/experimental and in turn pulling it into the package archive for the upcoming Ubuntu 24.10 release. Thus a simple sudo apt install ptyxis for those on Ubuntu 24.10 and wanting to try out this new terminal emulator option.About The AuthorMichael Larabel is the principal author of Phoronix.com and founded the site in 2004 with a focus on enriching the Linux hardware experience.
