The US Sues Apple in an iPhone Antitrust Blockbuster


The Department of Justice lawsuit is the most aggressive legal challenge yet to Apple's dominant ecosystem.

The US Department of Justice, along with more than a dozen state attorneys general, has filed a lawsuit against Apple that takes direct aim at the iPhone and the company’s lucrative iOS ecosystem. Claiming that Apple had established an “iPhone monopoly,” the suit argues that the company’s allegedly anticompetitive behavior resounds well beyond smartphones themselves. Garland alleges that in order to maintain its grip on the market, “Apple knowingly and deliberately degrades quality and security for its users” and stifles innovation.
