This new retrofit door lock from Abode promises 12 months of battery life
Abode’s new retrofit smart lock offers fingerprint access without swapping out your entire deadbolt.
Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries are becoming more popular (Lockly uses one in some of its models, and the Aqara U200 can support one), but these make for a much chunkier device on your door. Most Abode security systems work with Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and can be hubs for Zigbee and Z-Wave devices. Paired with this smart lock, its iota all-in-one security system, which incorporates a camera and motion sensor in the base station, could be a neat solution for renters or apartment owners.
