Threads can now show when people are online and using the app

Meta is adding status indicators to Threads in an effort to surface more timely conversations.

Instead, Meta is offering the status indicators as a way to seek out users who are currently active on the service as a way of encouraging conversations that are more likely to get timely replies. Some creators are making thousands of dollars a month posting on threads thanks to Meta's bonus program but even they don't understand how its algorithm works. OpenAI has until October 30 to response to a cease and desist letter from the New York Times over its use of articles to train its AI model.
