One of Walz’s noteworthy classroom achievements, highlighted in a 2008 New York Times article, was his students’ use of advanced mapping data in 1993 to accurately predict the Rwandan genocide, which tragically resulted in the deaths of around 800,000 people just a year later. A regular contributor to platforms such as SpaceNews, CBC, AgriBusinessGlobal among others, Anusuya has also delivered guest lectures at the University of British Columbia’s school of journalism on the use of satellite imagery in storytelling.
