Trump says a TikTok ban would empower Meta, slams Facebook as ‘enemy of the people’


"Without TikTok, you can make Facebook bigger, and I consider Facebook to be an enemy of the people," Donald Trump said in a CNBC TV interview Monday.

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Monday raised concerns about efforts to ban Chinese-owned social media app TikTok in the U.S., saying it would only serve to empower Meta's Facebook platform. Incumbent President Joe Biden, who has expressed national security concerns over TikTok, has also said he would sign a bill to ban the app, if Congress passes it. Presumptive Republican presidential nominee and ex-U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday told CNBC he fears that banning Chinese-owned social app TikTok would only serve to empower Facebook, which he labelled an "enemy of the people."
