Trump’s tariff threat now targets Samsung and your favorite smartphones
Trump is imposing a 25% tariff on or Android phone too, unless they're made in the US.
President Donald Trump is pushing a plan that could slap a 25% tariff on smartphones, unless they’re made in the U.S., The Wall Street Journal reports. At first, Trump had his sights set squarely on Apple, which is pretty unusual for trade policy to single out one company like that. Speaking to reporters at the White House last Friday, Trump made it clear that he’s ready to slap a 25% tariff on Samsung and basically any phone brand not building their devices in the U.S.
