Twitch viewership drops to lowest in 5 years amid viewbot crackdown

Twitch has recorded its lowest monthly viewership in five years following a crackdown on viewbots over the summer.

Back in July, Twitch announced that they would be “meaningfully” improving their ability to “identify viewbots, inauthentic viewership, and other potentially fake engagement.” CEO Dan Clancy noted that the Amazon-owned platform would take additional steps to ensure real viewers weren’t affected. Since then, the platform’s viewership has fallen off a fair bit, with stat-tracking websites like Twitch Tracker and StreamCharts showing downward trends. There have, of course, been spikes too with big events like Ibai’s annual La Velada Del Año and Kai Cenat’s 30 days of summer.
