For cases where purity is too limiting, Typst 0.13 introduces the new plugin.transition API, which lets plugin authors deal with stateful operations in a sound way. Nonetheless, we plan to increase the time and resources we put into HTML export, and we are very happy to have NLNet's continued support in this endeavor. To make this change less disruptive, we also introduced a temporary compatibility behavior where types could be used like strings in some contexts (e.g., int =="integer" would be true).
