U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments over TikTok divestment law

President-elect Donald Trump has said, "I have a warm spot in my heart for TikTok," and that he will look at the potential ban of the social media app.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to hear arguments that a law that would effectively ban TikTok if its parent company does not sell the popular social media app violates the U.S. Constitution's free speech protections. A lawyer for Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, who is the leader of the Republican caucus in the Senate, in a filing Wednesday at the Supreme Court opposed TikTok's application for an emergency injunction against the law. President-elect Donald Trump met with TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida the same day the company asked the Supreme Court to take its case.
