With the beginning of the feature freeze, the Ubuntu development focus shifts primarily to testing and fixing bugs ahead of the anticipated 9 October release date. Ubuntu 25.10 is being powered by the Linux 6.17 kernel, features the GNOME 49 desktop atop Wayland, ups the RISC-V support baseline to the RVA23 profile, finally gets the TPM-backed full disk encryption support all in order, sudo-rs and other Rust-based components, Chrony by default, and Dracut is now being used by default too.
