US firm to test ZEUS nuclear microreactor for on-demand energy

NANO Nuclear Energy Inc. has assembled the first hardware for its ZEUS microreactor—a 1:2 scale block designed for non-nuclear testing.

Additional steps will include integrating cabling, sensors, and structural supports for a fully instrumented demo unit capable of capturing detailed data on heat transfer, material performance, and core safety margins. Parallely, the company intends to engage with regulatory bodies to lay the groundwork for licensing the ZEUS microreactor, a crucial step in bringing advanced nuclear power to various commercial and critical-use scenarios. NANO Nuclear hopes this approach will broaden the availability of reliable, clean energy, addressing the needs of industries and communities requiring portable power sources where conventional infrastructure is lacking or inefficient.
