US government asks Microsoft to get its security right - before adding any new features.

China's Microsoft hack shows why security must always be prioritized over features and why there must not be a general key that can be used as a "backdoor".

"The CSRB will assess the recent Microsoft Exchange Online intrusion, initially reported in July 2023, and conduct a broader review of issues relating to cloud-based identity and authentication infrastructure affecting applicable CSPs and their customers." While no organization is immune to cyberattack from well-resourced adversaries, we have mobilized our engineering teams to identify and mitigate legacy infrastructure, improve processes, and enforce security benchmarks." If malicious attackers are able to break into the email accounts of government officials, public authorities, possibly even intelligence services, countries like China and Russia can get their hands on very sensitive information, putting our national security in jeopardy.
