US scientists power EV with 100-kW wireless charger in 20 minutes | The researchers have achieved the highest power density for a wireless charger for a SUV class of vehicle.

Scientists at the US's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) have successfully demonstrated wireless charging of a passenger electric vehicle (EV) with a 100 kW charger.

Scientists at the US’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) have successfully demonstrated wireless charging of a passenger electric vehicle (EV) with a 100 kW charger. The charging was completed with a five-inch gap between the charger and the vehicle, similar to what is achieved in small consumer devices with this ability. While car manufacturers have successfully deployed 250 kW or fast chargers that can rapidly charge vehicles, there is also a need for a more hands-free approach to EV charging if we intend to make the experience more hassle-free.
