US Tariffs on Graphics Cards Imported From China Take Effect June 15


The tariffs, which will last at least until May 31, 2025, will also affect motherboards and PC desktop cases assembled in China, along with robot vacuums.

Although many companies had asked the White House to exempt certain Chinese imports from the tariffs, the USTR concluded: "Extending these exclusions may undercut those efforts, including recent investments in domestic capacity." In a February letter to the USTR, the Semiconductor Industry Association said: “China is the predominant source of parts like PCBAs [printed circuit board assemblies], switching devices, power supplies, electrical connectors, and cables. “Production of GPU accelerator modules outside of China currently remains insufficient to meet HPE’s requirements for US manufacturing or global demand, which has increased sharply in recent years,” the company said.
