Weight-loss drugs are causing people to spend less at the grocery store: study

People taking weight-loss drugs are spending less on groceries because their appetites have shrunk, according to a new study on shopping behaviors by Grocery Doppio, a data analytics firm.

Lauren Cobello, a Syracuse-based publicist, who has lost 45 pounds in six months while taking a generic version of Zepbound called Tirzepatide, said her “shopping habits have changed drastically.” People on weight-loss drugs also purchased 47% less baked goods; 28% less soda and sugary beverages; 17% less booze; and 13% less processed foods.
